Very expected game in Edmonton, AB where 6th ranked Thunderbirds (4-7) were defeated by first ranked Golden Bears (10-1) 77-61 on Friday. The game without a history. Golden Bears led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Thunderbirds' 22. Golden Bears forced 27 Thunderbirds turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Jordan Baker (192-91, college: Utah Valley) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Robert Dewar (211-91) who added 11 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side French forward Brylle Kamen (201, college: San Jose St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and forward Tommy Nixon (198) scored 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Golden Bears have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-1 record, which they share with Ryerson and Victoria. Thunderbirds lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. Golden Bears will face league's leader Vikies in Victoria, BC in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Thunderbirds will play at home against the league's second-placed Huskies and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
