There was no surprise in Kelowna where 6th ranked Heat (4-11) was crushed by second ranked Regina (10-2) 88-56 on Friday. The game without a history. Regina led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Heat's 34. Regina forced 21 Heat turnovers and outrebounded them 50-32 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Charlotte Kot (183-95) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Nicole Clarke (180-90) chipped in 23 points. Four Regina players scored in double figures. Forward Shenelle Tamminen (178) produced 11 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Emily Kanester (168) added 17 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Regina have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Western and Laurier. Loser Heat keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. Regina will have a break next round. Heat will play on the road against Bobcats (#8) in Brandon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
