Eighth-ranked Bisons (1-10) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Spartans (6-5) in Langley, BC on Friday. Spartans managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 23-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Spartans forced 22 Bisons turnovers. Strangely Bisons outrebounded Spartans 47-29 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Justin Bakuteka (183) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and American point guard Robert Rodriguez (183) who added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Spartans players scored in double figures. Spartans' coach Scott Allen allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side guard Andre Arruda-Welch (193) responded with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Amarjit Basi (180) scored 21 points. Spartans moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Bisons lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Spartans will face Wesmen (#4) in Winnipeg, MB in the next round. Bisons will play at home against the league's second-placed Cascades (#2) and hope to win that game.
