Important game to mention about took place in Monterrey. Eighth ranked Angeles (13-10) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Fuerza Regia (16-11) 85-82 on Friday evening. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 29-21 Fuerza Regia's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 85-82 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Michael Hunter (178, college: Cal-Irvine) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Hunter is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international guard Gabriel Giron (190-88) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Cuban point guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Fuerza Regia. Five Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Angeles maintains eighth place with 13-10 record. Fuerza Regia at the other side keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Angeles will play against higher ranked Toros (#6) in Nuevo Laredo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fuerza Regia will play at home against Gansos and hopes to get back on the winning track.
