Regular Season Round 15: Kangoeroes - Oostende 81-107

The game between 10th ranked Kangoeroes (2-13) and second ranked Oostende (10-3) in Willebroek on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Oostende outscored Kangoeroes 107-81. The game was mostly controlled by Oostende. Kangoeroes was better in fourth quarter 28-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oostende shot 62.3 percent from the field and made 31-of-39 free shots (79.5 percent) during the game. Kangoeroes were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider) who led his team to a victory with 19 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). International point guard Niels Marnegrave (191-87) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Oostende players scored in double figures. Forward Thomas De Thaey (203-91, college: N.Carolina St.) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Dieter Souveryns (193-83) added 25 points in the effort for Kangoeroes. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oostende have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 10-3 record behind leader Spirou. Newly promoted Kangoeroes stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Oostende will face VOO Verviers-Pepinster (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Kangoeroes will play against Liege Basket in Liege and hope to win that game.
