Regular Season Round 15: S.Jose/Unimed - Brasilia 77-87
Date: January 11, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (7-6) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Brasilia (8-6) 87-77. The game was mostly controlled by Brasilia. Sao Jose/Vinac was better in third quarter 26-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for the former international point guard Welington Dos Santos (185-81) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Uruguayan guard Martin Osimani (193-81, college: Duquesne) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American-Dominican point guard Emmanuel Quezada (188-85, college: USF) answered with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Andre Laws (188-80, college: San Diego) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sao Jose/Vinac. Five Brasilia and four Sao Jose/Vinac players scored in double figures. Brasilia have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place.
