Ninth-ranked Basket Pila (4-9) was very close to win a game against first ranked Legia (12-1) in Warszawa on Saturday. Legia managed to secure only two-point victory 71-69. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Center Damian Cechniak (208-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks. Pawel Podobas (194-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Legia's coach Piotr Bakun used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Marcin Zajac (192-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and Dawid Morawiec (188-94) added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Basket Pila. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Legia have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A with 12-1 record. Basket Pila at the other side dropped to the tenth place with nine games lost. Legia are looking forward to face Trefl II Sopot (#5) on the road in the next round. Basket Pila will play against SMS PZKosz (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
