Very important is a road loss of third ranked Golden Gaels (8-5) against fourth ranked Toronto Univ. (5-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Golden Gaels were defeated by Toronto Univ. in Toronto 70-56. The game was mostly controlled by Toronto Univ.. Golden Gaels was better in third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Golden Gaels to just 6 points in second quarter. Toronto Univ. forced 20 Golden Gaels turnovers. It was a good game for guard Jill Stratton (180) who led her team to a victory with 25 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Rachael Sider (178) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Forward Jenny Wright (178) answered with 14 points and power forward Robyn Pearson (183) added 8 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Golden Gaels. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toronto Univ. maintains fourth place with 5-7 record. Loser Golden Gaels dropped to the second position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
