Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Vicenza (6-4) defeated on the road 6th ranked Valmadrera (2-8) 60-50 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Vicenza made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Valmadrera turnovers. It was a good game for swingman Roberta Martelliano (165-92) who led her team to a victory with 20 points. Forward Lucia Ferri (182-85) contributed with 4 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Vicenza players scored in double figures. Guard Claudia Bussola (171-84) replied with 10 points and 6 assists and guard Giorgia Molteni (174-90) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Valmadrera. Newly promoted Vicenza maintains fourth position in North-East with 6-4 record. Valmadrera lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Vicenza will face Alghero (#7) at home in the next round. Valmadrera will play against Muggia and hope to win that game.
