The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventeenth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu's (6-18) home victory over bottom-ranked Qingdao Eagles (3-21) 123-103 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Shanxi Zhongyu. Qingdao Eagles managed to win third quarter 29-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanxi Zhongyu made 30-of-38 free shots (78.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Qingdao Eagles turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Marcus Williams (200-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. The other American import forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican center Peter Ramos (222-85) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) added 23 points and 5 assists respectively. Five Shanxi Zhongyu and four Qingdao Eagles players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shanxi Zhongyu moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Bayi R. Qingdao Eagles lost tenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Shanxi Zhongyu will meet higher ranked Jiangsu Dragons (#12) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Qingdao Eagles will play against Sichuan BW (#13) and hope to secure a win.
