Regular Season Round 16: Den Bosch - Leeuwarden 104-75
Date: January 12, 2014
Very predictable result when third ranked Den Bosch (14-5) smashed at home 8th ranked Leeuwarden (6-13) 104-75. The game was mostly controlled by Den Bosch. Leeuwarden was better in fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Den Bosch dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Leeuwarden's 38 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Den Bosch players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by forward Tai Wesley (200-86, college: Utah St.) who scored that evening 30 points and 6 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and guard David Gonzalvez (193-87, college: Richmond) supported him with 23 points and 4 assists. Four Den Bosch players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Nathan Healy (201-90, college: Appalachian St.) did not help to save the game for Leeuwarden. point guard Darius Theus (190-90, college: VCU) added 18 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Den Bosch have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-5 record behind leader Groningen. Leeuwarden at the other side keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost. Den Bosch will play against Rotterdam (#7) on the road in the next round. Leeuwarden will play against Amsterdam and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
