Regular Season Round 15: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi Rishon 79-69

Date: January 12, 2014
Winner League top team - Hapoel Jerusalem (12-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eleventh ranked Maccabi Rishon (4-10) 79-69. It looked good early as Maccabi Rishon took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hapoel Jerusalem had a 22-12 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi Rishon was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-79. It was a great evening for American point guard Derwin Kitchen (193-86, college: Florida St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import swingman Ronald DuPree (201-81, college: LSU, agency: Priority Sports) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Shawn Dawson (193-93) with 16 points and American forward Tasmin Mitchell (201-86, college: LSU) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Jerusalem have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-3 record. Maccabi Rishon at the other side keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against Hapoel Holon (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maccabi Rishon will play against GreenTops Netanya (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
