Very expected game in Bologna where 10th ranked Granarolo BO (7-8) was defeated by second ranked Cantu (11-4) 78-69 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-19. But Granarolo BO won second period 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Jamaican-American power forward Adrian Uter (200-84, college: Hofstra) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Michael Jenkins (191-86, college: Winthrop) chipped in 18 points. Four Cantu players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Congolese point guard Dwight Hardy (188-87, college: St.John's) who recorded 17 points and American swingman Matt Walsh (197-82, college: Florida) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Cantu have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Enel Brindisi. Loser Granarolo BO dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost. They share the position with JuveCaserta and Sidigas AV. Cantu will meet Tuscany Pistoia (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Granarolo BO will play against Banco di Srd in Sassari and hope to secure a win.
