Regular Season Round 24: DongGuan L. - TianJin S. 116-100

There was no surprise when 7th ranked TianJin Steel (13-11) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked DongGuan Leopards (16-8) 116-100 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 116-100. DongGuan Leopards dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to TianJin Steel's 44. DongGuan Leopards looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when DongGuan Leopards made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward QuAn Gu (203-92) who scored 32 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists. DongGuan Leopards' coach Brian Goorjian allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Shelden Williams (206-83, college: Duke) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Sebastian Telfair (183-85) added 26 points respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. DongGuan Leopards maintains fourth position with 16-8 record, which they share with Shanghai S. Loser TianJin Steel keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Liaoning H. and Fujian QB. DongGuan Leopards will meet at home higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. TianJin Steel will play against Foshan (#14) and hope to secure a win.
