Regular Season Round 29: Sendai 89ers - Osaka Evessa 72-87

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Sendai 89ers (11-12) lost at home to eighth ranked Osaka Evessa (10-15) 87-72 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Osaka Evessa. Sendai 89ers managed to win second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Sendai 89ers 50-37 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern) nailed 6 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and guard Naoto Takushi (182-81) accounted for 28 points. American guard Wendell Wendell (198-84, college: UNLV) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and British power forward Dzaflo Larkai (203-81, college: Bellarmine) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Sendai 89ers in the defeat. Osaka Evessa maintains eighth place with 10-15 record. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Osaka Evessa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again against Osaka Evessa (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
