Regular Season Round 15: Barrio Parque - Union SF 87-83

There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Union SF (6-7) lost to third ranked Barrio Parque (8-5) in Cordoba 83-87 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 16-12. But Union SF won second period 28-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Barrio Parque won last quarter 24-22. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Union SF's 40. Union SF was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for power forward Sebastian Acevedo (198-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. American-Liberian forward Daniel Horace (200-83, college: Miami, OH, agency: KMG Sports Management) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Barrio Parque's coach Alejandro Lotterio used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. point guard Juan Gandoy (184-82) answered with 19 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Sebastian Farias (188-83) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Union SF. Five Union SF players scored in double figures. Barrio Parque have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Atl.Echague. Union SF lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the third place with seven games lost. Barrio Parque will face Sarmiento (#5) in Chaco in the next round. Union SF will play at home against the league's leader Atl.Echague and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
