Regular Season Round 15: Maccabi.Ashdod - Maccabi T-A 85-88

Twelfth-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (2-13) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Maccabi T-A (10-4). The visitors from Tel-Aviv managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Maccabi Ashdod was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 24-20 charge of Maccabi T-A, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was international point guard Yogev Ohayon (189-87) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 assists. The former international David Blu (204-80, college: USC) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) who recorded 28 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kenny Hayes (188-87, college: Miami, OH, agency: Priority Sports) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Five Maccabi T-A and four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Maccabi T-A. They moved-up to second place. Maccabi Ashdod lost their eighth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Maccabi T-A's next round opponent will be Galil Gilboa (#8) in Rosh Pina which should be theoretically an easy game. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against Bnei Hasharon (#10) in Hod Hasharon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
