We should mention about the upset which took place in Bauru, where higher ranked Vivo/Franca (7-7) lost to sixteenth ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (4-8) in a road game 72-87 on Monday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vivo/Franca. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 50-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Paschoalotto/Bauru dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Vivo/Franca's 32 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Paschoalotto/Bauru forced 22 Vivo/Franca turnovers and outrebounded them 36-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Paschoalotto/Bauru's coach Jorge Guerra used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international center Paulo Prestes (210-88) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Juan Pablo Figueroa (184-86, agency: Interperformances) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Paschoalotto/Bauru moved-up to fifteenth place. Loser Vivo/Franca dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Paschoalotto/Bauru will meet higher ranked Brasilia (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Vivo/Franca will play against Macae and hope to secure a win.
