Regular Season Round 15: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Chalon 67-81

The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Chalon/Saor's (8-7) road victory over 11th ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (6-9) 81-67 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Chalon/Saor. Pau-Lacq-Orthez was better in second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chalon/Saor dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Pau-Lacq-Orthez's 30. The best player for the winners was Canadian-Trinidad and Tobago forward Kris Joseph (201-88, college: Syracuse) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Swiss Clint Capela (205-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Five Chalon/Saor players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Ahmad Nivins (206-87, college: St.Joseph's) who recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and David Denave (195-85) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively. Pau-Lacq-Orthez's coach Claude Bergeaud let to play ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chalon/Saor moved-up to ninth place. Newly promoted Pau-Lacq-Orthez keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Chalon/Saor will face league's leader Strasbourg IG at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will play against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
