Regular Season Round 16: Impuls BGUIR - Sozh Gomel 70-102

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Minsk. Second ranked Sozh Gomel faced 4th ranked Impuls BGUIR. Guests from Gomel (13-3) smashed host Impuls BGUIR (7-9) 102-70. The game was mostly controlled by Sozh Gomel. Impuls BGUIR was better in third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sozh Gomel dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Impuls BGUIR's 42. Sozh Gomel forced 25 Impuls BGUIR turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Impuls BGUIR's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian forward Sergei Dadukin (198-83) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Siarhei Charykau (185-82, college: Yakima Valley CC) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Aliaksandr Kuzmitski (198-92) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Henadziy Zakhar (198-92) added 7 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Impuls BGUIR. Five Sozh Gomel and four Impuls BGUIR players scored in double figures. Impuls BGUIR's coach Fedor Rodenko gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Sozh Gomel maintains second position with 13-3 record having just three points less than leader Grodno-93. Impuls BGUIR at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Sozh Gomel will play against Svisloch (#3) in Osipovichi in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Impuls BGUIR will play on the road against Prinemanye in Grodno and hopes to get back on the winning track.
