Another interesting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Doha: Al Jaysh (#3) and Al Sadd (#2). Al Jaysh (12-4) won against visiting Al Sadd (12-5) 93-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Sadd. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Al Jaysh made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Al Sadd 53-39 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Jaysh looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. The other American import forward Shawn Taggart (207-85, college: Memphis) chipped in a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. Four Al Jaysh players scored in double figures. Sierra Leonean-American swingman Alpha Bangura (197-80, college: St.John's, agency: Interperformances) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and international swingman Khalid Suliman (198-87) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Al Jaysh have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Gharafa. Loser Al Sadd dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Al Jaysh's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Shamal.
