Regular Season Round 16: Angers BC - Cognac 88-68

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Cognac BB (6-10) was crushed on the road by second ranked Angers BC (13-3) 88-68 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Angers BC. Cognac BB was better in second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. Cognac BB was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Richie Gordon (203-89, college: W.Carolina) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds for the winners (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Guard Thibaut Lonzieme (195-89) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Samba Dia (201-84, college: West Plains JC) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Lamine Sambe (188-89) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Angers BC maintains second position with 13-3 record having just -1 point less than leader Monaco. Loser Cognac BB keeps the thirteenth place with ten games lost. Angers BC will face Saint-Brieuc (#17) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Cognac BB will play against JA Vichy (#3) and hope to win that game.
