Regular Season Round 16: Al Rayyan - Al Arabi 88-79

Date: January 15, 2014
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Rayyan (#1) and Al Arabi (#5). Al Rayyan (15-1) won against visiting Al Arabi (11-6) 88-79. The winners were led by American forward Jermareo Davidson (208-84, college: Alabama) who scored that evening 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international power forward Yasseen Ismail Musa (203-80) supported him with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Even 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by the former international point guard Mansour El Hadary (177-90) did not help to save the game for Al Arabi. American swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) added 15 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-1 record. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.
