Regular Season Round 25: Fujian QB - Guangdong ST 99-102

Seventh-ranked Fujian (13-12) made lots of trouble for first ranked Guandong Tigers (22-3) in Jinjiang on Wednesday. The visitors from Dongguan managed to secure only three-point victory 102-99. However their fans expected much easier game. Fujian was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 24-18 charge of Guandong Tigers, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Fujian outrebounded Guandong Tigers 44-0 including a 17- advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Fujian helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International Jianlian Yi (212-87) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Five Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. American center Will McDonald (211-79, college: S.Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Delonte West (192-83, college: St.Joseph's) added 27 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 22-3 record. Fujian at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Guandong Tigers are looking forward to face Shanghai Sharks (#5) on the road in the next round. Fujian will play against DongGuan Leopards (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
