Regular Season Round 25: Prievidza - Iskra Svit 72-77

The game between third ranked Prievidza (15-7) and fifth ranked Iskra Svit (13-9) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Prievidza was defeated by Iskra Svit in a tough game in Prievidza 72-77. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Prievidza. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 5 points. 24 personal fouls committed by Prievidza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American center Tyrone McNeal (213-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side Croatian swingman Marko Batina (198-86) responded with 15 points and Croatian power forward Drazen Klaric (204-80) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Prievidza's coach Krunoslav Krajnovic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Iskra Svit moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rieker KN. Prievidza at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Iskra Svit is looking forward to face Levice (#8) at home in the next round. Prievidza will play against the league's second-placed Nitra (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
