No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lucca (11-4) crushed at home 9th ranked Orvieto (4-11) 82-58 on Thursday. Lucca dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Orvieto's 36 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Lucca forced 27 Orvieto turnovers and outrebounded them 42-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Dutch power forward Naomi Halman (191-86, college: Cal-Irvine) notched a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) supported her with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Aishah Sutherland (187-90, college: Kansas, agency: Two Points) did not help to save the game for Orvieto. Forward Stella Panella (178-93) added 17 points for the guests. Orvieto's coach Tony Valentinetti gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Lucca maintains third position with 11-4 record having just one point less than leader Familia Schio. Orvieto lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 11 games lost. Lucca will meet league's leader Familia Schio on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Orvieto will play against Venezia (#6) and hope to secure a win.
