Everything went according to plan when third ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (17-11) edged on the road 9th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (6-20) 77-74 on Thursday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The game was also dominated by American players. Power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa) fired 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. Swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) produced 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) added 13 points respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hamamatsu Phoenix. They maintain third place with 17-11 record having two points less than leader Akita NH.
