Regular Season Round 33: Angeles - Pioneros 81-82

Eighth-ranked Angeles (13-12) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Pioneros (24-7) in Acapulco on Thursday. The visitors from Cancun managed to secure only one-point victory 82-81. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a good game for the former international forward Hector Hernandez (206-85, college: Fresno St.) who saved his team from a defeat with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Panamanian power forward Jose Lloreda (203-80, college: LSU, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) added 18 points and 5 assists in the effort for Angeles. Five Angeles players scored in double figures. Pioneros have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 24-7 record, which they share with Halc.Rojos. Newly promoted Angeles dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Pioneros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Angeles will play again at home against the league's leader Pioneros (#1) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
