Regular Season Round 13: Stjarnan - Thor Thorl 97-95

Important game to mention about took place in Stjarnan. Seventh ranked Stjarnan (7-6) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging 5th ranked Thor Thorl (8-6) 97-95 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Thor Thorl. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Junior Hairston (203-84, college: Towson, agency: KMG Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. International point guard Justin Shouse (181-81, college: Mercyhurst) contributed with 23 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Stjarnan players scored in double figures. American swingman Mike Cook (193-84, college: Pittsburgh) answered with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian-Canadian forward Nemanja Sovic (198-77, college: Pfeiffer) added 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Thor Thorl. Stjarnan moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Haukar. Thor Thorl at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Stjarnan will play against Skallagrimur (#11) in Borgarnes in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Thor Thorl will play at home against KFI (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
