Regular Season Round 17: Vivo/Franca - Macae 82-68

Very predictable result when eighth ranked Vivo/Franca (7-7) won against 14th ranked Macae (5-10) in Sao Paulo 82-68. The game was mostly controlled by Vivo/Franca. Macae was better in third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vivo/Franca forced 20 Macae turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international center Paulo Prestes (210-88) who scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. Leonardo Meindl (200-93) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. Vivo/Franca's coach Aluisio Xavier Ferreira allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) produced 14 points and 7 assists and Argentinian Pablo Espinoza (200-87) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Vivo/Franca moved-up to sixth place. Macae at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. Vivo/Franca's next round opponent will be league's leader Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Macae will play on the road against Unitri (#8) in Uberlandia and hope to win that game.
