No shocking result in a game when third ranked Gaiters (4-1) crushed 5th ranked Citadines (1-6) in Lennoxville, QC 71-50 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 18-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-50. Gaiters dominated on the defensive end, holding Citadines to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Citadines' 30. Gaiters forced 29 Citadines turnovers. It was a very good performance for forward David Belanger (196) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Onnex Blackwood (190) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Gaiters players scored in double figures. Forward Alexandre Bernard (196) answered with 10 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Richard Addai (180-88) added 13 points in the effort for Citadines. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gaiters moved-up to second place. Citadines lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Gaiters will face again Citadines (#5) in Montreal, QC in the next round.
