Regular Season Round 19: Western - Lakehead 73-72

A very close game took place in London, ON between Mustangs and Thunderwolves. Fifth ranked Mustangs (5-8) got a very close home victory over 4th placed Thunderwolves (4-9). Mustangs managed to escape with a 1-point win 73-72 in the fight for the fourth place. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 21-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Mustangs especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 72.7 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for forward Peter Scholtes (196) who led the winners and scored 19 points. Forward Greg Morrow (190) accounted for 12 points for the winning side. Four Mustangs players scored in double figures. Guard Henry Tan (183) came up with 26 points and forward Igor Lebov (197-90, college: Franklin Pierce) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Thunderwolves in the defeat. Thunderwolves' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mustangs have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Brandon and Calgary. Loser Thunderwolves dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Regina. Mustangs will again meet Thunderwolves (#5) in the next round. Thunderwolves will have a break next round.
