Regular Season Round 24: Denain - Boulazac 83-82
Date: January 17, 2014
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Denain Voltaire (13-11) edged at home 12th ranked Boulazac Basket (10-14) 83-82 on Friday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Boulazac Basket was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 29-24 charge of Denain Voltaire, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Maurice Acker (176-87, college: Marquette) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) who added 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. Denain Voltaire's coach Fabrice Courcier used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Meredis Houmounou (188-88) with 19 points and 4 assists and American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Denain Voltaire moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hyeres-Toulon and Fos Ouest. Boulazac Basket lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Denain Voltaire will face Fos Ouest (#8) in Fos-sur-Mer in the next round. Boulazac Basket will play on the road against ALM Evreux (#6) and hope to win that game.
