There was a small surprise in London where sixth ranked Thunderwolves (7-7) defeated 3rd placed Mustangs (11-3) 66-48 on Friday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 66-48. Thunderwolves dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Mustangs' 28. Thunderwolves forced 21 Mustangs turnovers. American guard Jylisa Williams (173-89, college: Georgia St.) stepped up and scored 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Ayse Kalkan (173-91) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Thunderwolves' coach Jon Kreiner used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Guard Jenny Vaughan (175-90, college: Denver) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Melissa Rondinelli (182) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Thunderwolves. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with TRU. Loser Mustangs still keep top position with three games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. Mustangs will play again at home against Thunderwolves and hope to win that game.
