Regular Season Round 15: Palma - Cambados 75-63
Date: January 18, 2014
Rather predictable result in S'Arenal where seventh ranked Palma (8-6) defeated 9th ranked Cambados (5-8) 75-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Palma. Cambados managed to win third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Palma forced 21 Cambados turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Antoni Vicens (203-90) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) chipped in 18 points. DiBartolomeo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was center Alberto Rodriguez (206-75) who recorded 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and forward Jose Merino (196-88) added 20 points respectively. Cambados' coach Yago Casal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Palma moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Cambados keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Araberri. Palma will meet Araberri (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cambados will play against the league's second-placed Prat and hope to secure a win.
