Important game to mention about took place in Bilbao. Twelfth ranked Bilbao Basket (7-9) saved a 3-point victory at home edging higher ranked CB Canarias (8-7) 93-90 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CB Canarias won third quarter 26-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bilbao Basket made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of international center German Gabriel (207-80) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. The former international forward Alex Mumbru (202-79) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Montenegrin center Blagota Sekulic (209-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Richotti (184-86) added 20 points in the effort for CB Canarias. Five Bilbao Basket and four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bilbao Basket maintains twelfth position with 7-9 record. CB Canarias at the other side dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Bilbao Basket will play against Blusens Monbus (#16) in Santoago de Comp in the next round. CB Canarias will play at home against La Bruixa d'Or (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
