Very expected game in Galdakao where 11th ranked Ibaizabal (4-9) was defeated by third ranked Gran Canaria (9-4) 73-64. Ibaizabal was ahead by 12 points at the halftime before a 43-22 second half run of Gran Canaria. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Brittany Chambers (173-91, college: Kansas St.) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Naturalized Senegalese center Astou Ndour (198-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. point guard Juana Molina-Prados (174-91) answered with 16 points and American center Lady Comfort (188-86, college: Temple) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Ibaizabal. Gran Canaria maintains third place with 9-4 record having just two points less than leader Perfumerias. Newly promoted Ibaizabal keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Gran Canaria will play against Argon Uni Girona (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ibaizabal will play against Jopisa Burgos and hopes to get back on the winning track.
