Regular Season Round 31: Shinshu BW - Takamatsu FA 93-88

There was a small surprise in Nagano where fifth ranked Shinshu BW (18-7) beat 5th ranked Takamatsu FA (13-14) 93-88 on Saturday. They outrebounded Takamatsu FA 53-42 including 19 on the offensive glass. Shinshu BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shinshu BW made 8 blocks. Takamatsu FA was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was also dominated by American players. Power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 20 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks for the winners. Forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Five Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. Swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) produced 30 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 16 points and 17 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Shinshu BW. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Iwate Big Bulls. Loser Takamatsu FA keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. Shinshu BW will face again Takamatsu FA (#5) at home in the next round.
