Regular Season Round 15: AZS AGH Alstom - UMKS Kielce 69-62

Very important is a road loss of second ranked UMKS Kielce (11-4) against fourth ranked AZS AGH Alstom (11-4) on Saturday night. Visiting UMKS Kielce was defeated by AZS AGH Alstom in a tough game in Krakow 62-69. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of UMKS Kielce. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-11. But UMKS Kielce won second period 13-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AZS AGH Alstom made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. AZS AGH Alstom outrebounded UMKS Kielce 47-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for guard Tomasz Zych (185-87) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Damian Kalinowski (201-91) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. AZS AGH Alstom's coach Wojciech Bychawski allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Naturalized German power forward Alexander Machowski (205-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Jakub Dryjanski (202-82) added 15 points in the effort for UMKS Kielce. AZS AGH Alstom have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group C, which they share with defeated UMKS Kielce. AZS AGH Alstom's next round opponent will be Pulaski Warka (#9) on the road and are hoping to win another game. UMKS Kielce will play against Piaseczno (#8) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the 1Liga just one year after relegation.
