Very expected game when 10th ranked Oviedo (2-8) was crushed at home by second ranked Maquinaria Ensino (9-1) 88-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Maquinaria Ensino. Oviedo was better in second period 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Maquinaria Ensino outrebounded Oviedo 45-19 including a 33-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Oviedo was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Mireia Navarrete (184-80) scored 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Maquinaria Ensino players scored in double figures. At the losing side Lucia Cavia responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Argentinian Ines Orselli (-93) scored 12 points and 6 assists. Oviedo's coach already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Maquinaria Ensino have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A leader, which they share with Ferrol and Al-Qazeres. Oviedo lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with eight games lost. Maquinaria Ensino will face Real Celta Vigo (#4) at home in the next round. Oviedo will play against Cafe Barco (#9) in Badajoz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
