Regular Season Round 34: Angeles - Pioneros 85-111

LNBP top team - Pioneros (25-7) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Angeles (13-13) in Acapulco 111-85. The game was mostly controlled by Pioneros. Angeles managed to win third quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pioneros dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Angeles' 30. They outrebounded Angeles 40-24 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pioneros shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 68.4 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Hector Hernandez (206-85, college: Fresno St.) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American forward Robert Hornsby (201-82, college: Troy) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Pioneros' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Luis Ramirez (180-82) added 18 points in the effort for Angeles. Five Pioneros and four Angeles players scored in double figures. Pioneros have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 25-7 record, which they share with Halc.Rojos. Angeles lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth place with 13 games lost. Pioneros is looking forward to face Lechugueros (#12) in Leon in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Angeles will play on the road against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
