Regular Season Round 20: Guelph - Waterloo 87-77

There was no surprise in Guelph, ON where 8th ranked Warriors (2-12) were defeated by sixth ranked Gryphons (4-10) 87-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gryphons. Warriors was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Warriors 37-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Adam Kemp (201) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 7 rebounds and forward Trevor Thompson (196) who added 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Naturalized British swingman Mike Helsby (193-89) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Wayne Bridge (190-90) scored 22 points. Five Gryphons and four Warriors players scored in double figures. Warriors' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gryphons moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Warriors dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Gryphons will face league's leader Marauders in Hamilton, ON in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Warriors' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Waterloo, ON to the arena Golden Hawks.
