Regular Season Round 15: GKS Tychy - Slask 2 Wroclaw 99-81

Very predictable result when first ranked GKS Tychy (14-1) defeated at home 6th ranked Slask 2 Wroclaw (8-8) 99-81 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by GKS Tychy. Slask 2 Wroclaw was better in fourth quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. GKS Tychy dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Slask 2 Wroclaw's 28 and made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Slask 2 Wroclaw 33-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. GKS Tychy looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Slask 2 Wroclaw's players. It was a great evening for power forward Mariusz Markowicz (202-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Power forward Tomasz Deja (200-83) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was point guard Jakub Niziol (198-96) with 24 points and 4 steals and point guard Marc-Oscar Sanny (185-96) scored 9 points and 8 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for GKS Tychy. They maintain first place in Group B with 14-1 record, which they share with GTK Gliwice. Newly promoted Slask 2 Wroclaw keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. GKS Tychy will face Cieszyn (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Slask 2 Wroclaw will play against Mickiewicz (#9) and hope to win that game.
