Date: January 18, 2014
Very expected game when 12th ranked Lechugueros (8-24) lost to sixth ranked Toros (17-9) in Leon 79-91 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Lechugueros managed to win fourth quarter 23-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Lechugueros outrebounded Toros 44-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Toros looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American forward Adrian Henning (203-82, college: Austin Peay St.) notched 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Puerto Rican point guard Lee Vazquez (173-91, college: Westfield St.) supported him with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds by Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) did not help to save the game for Lechugueros. American point guard Glenn Stokes (170-76, college: American) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side. Four Lechugueros players scored in double figures. Toros maintains sixth position with 17-9 record. Lechugueros lost thirteenth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 24 games lost. Toros will meet at home higher ranked Fuerza Regia (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lechugueros will play against the league's leader Pioneros (#1) in Cancun and hope to secure a win.
