Regular Season Round 16: AZS PP - MKS DG 74-88

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked AZS PP (3-13) lost to third ranked MKS DG (12-4) in Poznan 74-88 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by MKS DG. AZS PP managed to win second period 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded AZS PP 35-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by forward Przemyslaw Szymanski (198-84, agency: Promotex) who scored that evening 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Michal Woloszyn (201-84) supported him with 15 points. Even 17 points and 6 assists by point guard Pawel Hybiak (173-89) did not help to save the game for AZS PP. Tomasz Baszak (183-82) added 17 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. AZS PP's coach Waldemar Mendel tested eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. MKS DG have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 12-4 record having just three points less than leader SIDEn Torun. Loser AZS PP dropped to the eleventh place with 13 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. MKS DG will meet at home Sokol Lancut (#7) in the next round. AZS PP will play against Stal Ostrow (#9) in Ostrow Wlkp. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
