Regular Season Round 31: Sendai 89ers - Akita NH 86-91

Date: January 18, 2014
Leader Akita Happinets recorded the twentieth fifth victory. This time they beat 7th ranked Sendai 89ers (12-13) 91-86. 24 personal fouls committed by Sendai 89ers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a quality performance for American center Chas McFarland (213-86, college: Wake Forest) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) accounted for 12 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side. American Travele Travel (203-88, college: Texas Southern) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and guard Takehiko Takehiko (160-83) added 15 points and 10 assists respectively for Sendai 89ers in the defeat. Five Akita Happinets and four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain first place with 25-4 record. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the seventh position with 13 games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against the league's leader Akita Happinets (#1) and hope to win that game.
