Regular Season Round 18: Laval - Concordia 50-58

The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Laval's (1-7) home loss to third ranked Concordia (5-3) 50-58 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Concordia dominated on the defensive end, holding Laval to just 7 points in first quarter. Center Marilyse Roy-Viau (180) scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Kaylah Barrett (173) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Justine Guay-Bilodeau (178-92) with 14 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Gabrielle Girard (170-91) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Concordia maintains third position with 5-3 record having eleven points less than leader UFV. Laval lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Concordia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montreal McGill.
