Rather expected game when 7th ranked Logan Thunder (6-13) was smashed on the road by fifth ranked Adelaide Lightning (9-9) 88-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Adelaide Lightning. Logan Thunder managed to win second period 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Logan Thunder 39-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Adelaide Lightning looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international center Laura Hodges (191-83) who led the winners and scored 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Amy Lewis (175-86, college: Troy) accounted for 17 points and 4 assists for the winning side. The former international guard Kristen Veal (176-81) came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and New Zealand forward Natalie Taylor (182-84, college: SE Missouri St.) added 19 points respectively for Logan Thunder in the defeat. Four Logan Thunder players scored in double figures. Adelaide Lightning have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 9-9 record. Logan Thunder lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 13 games lost. Adelaide Lightning will meet at home Sydney Uni Flames (#6) in the next round. Logan Thunder will play against the league's leader Bendigo Spirit and hope to secure a win.
