Regular Season Round 18: Shanghai - Shenyang 94-79

Very predictable result when second ranked Shanghai Octopus (14-4) defeated at home bottom-ranked Shenyang Golden Lions (1-17) 94-79 on Saturday. The game without a history. Shanghai Octopus led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Shenyang Golden Lions' 48. They outrebounded Shenyang Golden Lions 31-19 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) who had a double-double by scoring 55 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (on 21-of-24 shooting from the field). point guard Xiufeng Shi (178-87) chipped in 21 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was center Xuejiao Wu (189-89) who recorded 23 points and international forward Meng Li (185-95) added 23 points respectively. Shanghai Octopus have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 14-4 record having just three points less than leader Shanxi, which they share with Beijing. Loser Shenyang Golden Lions stay dead last with 17 lost games. They share the position with Shandong. Shanghai Octopus will meet Shandong (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Shenyang Golden Lions will play against Bayi Kylin and hope to win that game.
