Regular Season Round 31: Toyama Grouses - Shimane SM 68-52

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Shimane Magic (5-22) was defeated on the road by second ranked Toyama Grouses (21-8) 68-52 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 40-18 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Toyama Grouses dominated on the defensive end, holding Shimane Magic to just 7 points in third quarter. Guard Mito Takeshi (184-85) fired 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: Norton Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Toyama Grouses' coach Bob Nash used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward LaShawn Malloy (209-84, college: New Orleans) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import center Jeral Davis (216-84) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Toyama Grouses maintains second place with 21-8 record behind leader Akita NH. Shimane Magic lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 22 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face again Shimane Magic (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
